At Stocks Green Pre-School, we adhere to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), a framework guiding our educational approach. The EYFS emphasises seven interconnected areas of learning, categorised into prime and specific areas.

 

Prime Areas:

• Communication and Language

• Physical Development

• Personal, Social, and Emotional Development

Specific Areas:

• Literacy

• Mathematics

• Understanding the World

• Expressive Arts and Design

Our practice is shaped by four key principles within the EYFS:

• Every child is unique, constantly learning, resilient, capable, confident, and self-assured.

• Positive relationships foster children's strength and independence.

• Enabling environments, responsive to individual needs, and strong partnerships with parents enhance learning and development.

• The importance of recognizing that children develop and learn at different rates.

Adjusting our practices to accommodate different developmental rates, we focus on three characteristics of effective teaching and learning:

• Playing and exploring

• Active learning

• Creating and thinking critically

We respect and build upon your unique knowledge of your child, aiming to align our efforts with your experiences at home. Each child at Pre-School has a designated key person, ensuring tailored learning and care that supports individual needs. A child's journey is documented in a profile, incorporating artwork, photographs, and observations. We value parents as the child's first educators and encourage active involvement in their education. Through shared responsibility, we make decisions that provide the best start for each child at Stocks Green Pre-School.
